Just a quick video showing how I replaced a blower fan capacitor on a residential HVAC attic unit. Please be safe and turn off the breaker or unplug the unit or switch it off before attempting any repairs. Also, please note that a capacitor can still shock you after the power is turned off. The HVAC indoor blower fan wasn't working, but a little manual push start got the fan motor to work. This is typically going to be a bad capacitor. Many HVAC related calls are due to the blower motor not working. You can also make sure that you don't have something blocking the flow of air or that your ducting hasn't collapsed restricting the flow. If you smell a burning electrical type of smell, it's likely that your blower motor is bad and will need replacing. If you do replace your fan blower motor, you should also install a new capacitor at the same time. If your furnace or A/C blower motor is not working and there is no air coming out of your vents, it's possible your blower motor has burnt out and you need a new one. Or maybe it is just simply a bad capacitor like in this video. I show you how easy it is to change a capacitor that is defective. Be safe when you do this and make sure you have the power off when touching any uninsulated parts of a wire or the connectors.
