Lyme Regis is one of the settings in Jane Austen's novel, Persuasion, and it has so much to offer the Jane Austen fan, the traveler, and the fossil hunter! I am a geologist and an amateur Austen scholar, so of COURSE I would combine my obsessions for a talk I gave for the Jane Austen Society of North America--Greater Louisville Region in 2018, and for the more recent and first ever Virtual Jane Austen Festival put on by the same region! Come join me as I explore Lyme Regis from afar, both its sites of significance in Jane's novel, as well as for the amazing fossilist Mary Anning, who was in Lyme when Jane visited (albeit a toddler)!
