It took a lot of work to get Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Sony finally reached an agreement with Disney to share the character. However, Sony still has the rights to plenty of other Marvel characters that the MCU can’t use, and they are now working on a cinematic universe of their own, starting with Venom.
