In 2017 I got a cold or the flu and during one night I got tinnitus in one of my ears. Tinnitus is when you experience ringing in one or both of your ears.

I didn't get treatment at once because most places told you to just wait it out. Because I got more and more anxious it got worse and I also got hyperacusis which is where you get very sensitive to normal everyday sound, and they bring pain and discomfort.

Now 5 years later I reflect on what happend and how my treatment was. If you suffer from something similar I advice you to watch this video as it might help you avoid all the pitfall I fell into.

There is not medical treatment to "remove" tinnitus, but using cognetive behavorial therapy (CBT) you can help get the anxiety and suffering away. Also when you learn to not pay attention to the ringing it reduces in volume.
