Apocalypse Now is one of the ten best movies ever made. The brilliance and message of Apocalypse Now derives from two characters: Kilgore and Kurtz. Although the two characters never meet, their philosophical differences are at war in Vietnam. In this analysis, I take a closer look at Kilgore and Kurtz and identify subtle moments in the film that help us understand their conflict, one moment being The Roach's awakening.
