Shivani Siroya is the founder and CEO of Tala, a global technology company building accessible financial services for more than 6 million people across Kenya, the Philippines, Mexico and India. In a keynote conversation, Siroya described how Tala products enable people to start and expand small businesses, manage day-to-day needs and pursue their financial goals.

While Tala has raised more than $350 million from visionary investors, Siroya launched the business by lending her own money to borrowers in Ghana who were traditionally excluded from financing models. “I viscerally believed in their potential, so I used my own capital.” She said her company has a 97% repayment rate globally. “If you trust someone, you’re willing to open your doors to them. Fundamentally, why I do this is to enable or engender more trust in the world.”
