One of my long time friends reached out recently, he starting grad school soon and was looking to build a desktop. He wanted something that would be able to do some light CAD work and possibly light gaming. His budget was $600 which is a bit tight in todays market. However after thinking about it for a bit I told him there is a chance I have enough pieces and parts laying around that I might be able to put together a decent system. If so then he could save that $600 for a future build or upgrade. So today I go hunting around my office to see what I have laying around that can be used in a system build. Things started out so good, then went so bad.
