I first got acquainted with the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning during an all-highway road trip from Mississauga, Ontario back home to Sudbury — a roughly 425-kilometre drive.

My Lightning tester was the Platinum trim with extended-range battery pack (131 kWh usable), good for about 480 kilometres of range in ideal conditions.

But on this maiden Lightning voyage, conditions along my drive route were not ideal.
