Sky News Australia host James Macpherson reveals a large number of the complaints made within the first 24 hours of Scotland introducing their ‘Hate Crimes’ law were against the country's First Minister Humza Yousaf himself.

Laws introduced on April 1 in Scotland criminalise stirring up hate against protected identity groups.

The complaints against Mr Yousaf concerned a speech made in Scottish parliament where he criticised white people.

Mr Yousaf responded saying he hasn’t seen anyone who is not part of the ‘far-right’ referencing that speech in relation to a hate crime.

More than 8,000 hate crime complaints were made within the first week of the laws being enacted, with complaints under this law having the potential to outnumber the total for all other offences in Scotland within nine months.
