Why has Paypal dropped so much in 2 years? Well it had 6% of the institutions sell out the last Q2 to 63% ownership, down -4% from 72% Q1.
--217 Closed & 746 reduced between April to June 30th. --146 started new positions, 657 Increased, $1.5 billion share buybacks.
--There was a lot of selling from the large passive shareholders where $500 million dollar trims from multiple funds while it is only .04% of their portfolio the trim is big to Paypal at a $61 billion 2017 valuation currently.
--There are a lot of funds holding since 2015 with $92 averages combined.
--What is interesting is Paypal just double bottomed at $59, this was similar to end of May when it bottomed and had its run up 30% to late July. Image During this time large holders were selling out or trimming and it still had the run to $76.54. Could the run up have also been Paypal locking up $1.5 billion in shares?
Possibly and this buying is only going to increase this quarter.
From April - June 30th Paypal was down -20% to its $58.95 lows but recovered 12% by June 30th after a total of 1.32 Billion vol traded the quarter, of this 59% was 13F filing shares which were mostly selling imo because of the CEO search.
--It's safe to say the big -22% drop the last 2 weeks on 267 million volume was more 13F sells and trims along with a major misconception about Paypal where most are just plain wrong and this is why. Paypal still had a big rally +30% in 66 days even with the likely major institutional selling going on both quarters. There was also large retail vol this quarter.

What just changed?
--Paypal just got a new CEO that starts next month.

--There is a lot of false misconceptions from even hedge fund founders like the Founder of Pointwealth capital management saying " Venmo" is their competition when Paypal actually owns Venmo.

--Todays $59 price means deep value funds, buybacks and possibly funds that finally got what they wanted aka a new CEO will start to average down.

--Paypal is not only going to have likely one of their best two quarters coming up but they will introduce their new CEO that starts next month. Deep Value low prices cure low prices. Give a like, share and follow if you want to hear daily about Paypal.
