Ashling Murphy's mother has revealed how she begged her daughter not to go for a run along the Grand Canal in Tullamore, on the day she was attacked and murdered.

As Ashling's killer was jailed for life today, the young schoolteacher's boyfriend also delivered a powerful victim impact statement to the sentencing hearing in which he turned directly to Jozef Puska and told him he'd robbed him of the chance to marry his soulmate.
