Lady Funcke is an online Interpersonal Practice MSW student from Florida. She is unwavering in her commitment to prison reform, civil rights and equal educational opportunities for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals. She carries the weight of personal experience, having endured incarceration and the subsequent stigmatization that often accompanies it. This personal connection fuels her dedication to dismantling barriers and providing marginalized communities with the resources and opportunities they deserve.

Funcke's mission extends to creating safe, supportive environments for individuals embarking on the path to recovery from trauma, addiction, and the societal stigmatization of oppressed minorities. She has pursued a diverse range of certifications, including those in health, housing, and educational services, as well as social services for families, seniors, and those with disabilities. Funcke actively volunteers to create safe spaces for trauma survivors and lends her support to immigrants from Latin countries as they navigate their journey in a new land. Through her advocacy, Funcke aims to shed light on the importance of mental health resources, opportunities, and support for individuals who may have been unfairly judged by society.

The Social Justice Changemaker Lecture aims to bring prominent social justice experts and advocates from multiple disciplines including social sciences, science, humanities, the arts and other professions to the University of Michigan Campus.
