Observational documentary series about one of the busiest stretches of motorway in Britain, where the country's longest motorway, the M6, meets four other major routes. In this episode, we meet the workers tasked with over-seeing and making the repairs to the motorway and local residents Jim and Alan who live just twenty metres from where the road works are taking place. For the last six years, there's been a succession of road works on this stretch of the motorway resulting in a string of complaints from Jim who has the Highways Agency number permanently logged in his phone. With the latest road works again scheduled during the night when the motorway is at its quietest, Jim knows full well what to expect. Jim and Alan aren't the only ones having sleepless nights as we join the safety inspectors working the graveyard shift on the look-out for heavy freight truckers breaking the rules and go behind the scenes during the repair of a four-mile stretch of the M6.
