Google Rich Results Test - How to Get Google to See Your Video

Embedding a video from YouTube into your website does not mean that Google (and Bing) can read it. You can use a tool called Google Rich Results Test that can show you if Google can detect the video on the page via markup information. In this video, I share how Google was not detecting my two videos on my webpage. Then, I used a free tool called https://videoschema.com/ to grab the YouTube URL and create a video schema in microdata. Then, after I copy the code into my WordPress website, I run another test on https://search.google.com/test/rich-r... and can confirm Google can see the microdata video information.

You want search engines to see the video information because it can help improve your SEO rankings. For example, suppose you have a video that compliments the page (like mine or a recipe for a cooking website). In that case, you want to give search engines more information on what this video is via the microdata elements.

Understanding this simple technical SEO tip, especially for website owners who utilize video, is necessary to rank better.
