Hyundai Santa Cruz Pickup Truck Could Be Electrified with Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and the EV Possibilities! Can it compete with 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid and 2022 Ford F150 Lightning Electric Truck?

Santa Cruz will be Hyundai’s first foray into the lucrative pickup market dominated by the American automakers with the Japanese brands hanging on even after decades of attempting to cut into a significant portion of the market share. Pickup trucks are as American as apple pie and it’s the last bastion for the American makers. And they still remain formidable.

To break into this tough market, Hyundai has decided to take the most indirect and inconspicuous approach possible to enter the market by introducing a crossover-based unibody pickup truck rather than a traditional body-on-frame one, as how most of the American trucks are built. This is a provocative move as the unibody style trucks are few and far between with Honda Ridgeline being the only contender in the marketplace with the market share of only about 1% in the pickup truck market. There is the new Ford Maverick coming and we will compare the new 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe against it to find out which is better. We also explore the possibility of the electrified Hyundai Santa Cruz for the coming future to give the Ford Maverick, as well as the Ford F150 Lightning run for its money.
