At a glance, the Evoque is the stylish sibling, and the Discovery Sport is the more functional alternative. Although, as ever, it's not quite that simple. Both Discovery Sport and Evoque share the same range of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid engines, and both cars have near-identical dashboards and infotainment systems.

Look closer, and you'll spot more storage and passenger space in the Discovery Sport, but more pizzaz and gloss to the Evoque interior finish. Rear legroom is greater in the Disco, and there's more boot space, but the Evoque is shorter in length and therefore easier to park.
