This was recorded last Summer, around May 2017

I've been going through my old VR videos that I had never uploaded and I had one last VR Essay episode that was left. This video is probably due for an update due to recent events in the United States. When I made this almost a year ago, I didn't think that just one year later the (new) president of the US would have made an announcement to talk with top people in the video game industry about violence in video games and virtual reality, but that's where we are. The headlines that we saw in the late 90s and early/mid 2000s are back and this time the legislation might actually be impacted. Maybe I'll revisit this topic in a future VR Essay. What are your thoughts on this?

And just to make it clear what my thoughts are; I do not think that violent videos games creates murderers. I do think that they can desensitize the player to the visual shock of seeing violence in entertainment and possibly real life, but not turn them into a sociopath that has no care for human life to the extent that they will take an innocent human life. Video games are popular, especially violent games, so it's not a surprise if mass/spree/serial murderers have played titles like Call of Duty which is one of the most popular games out there. Correlation is not causation.
