Notes: Per manufacturer instructions, Metal Roofing panels can be installed on a variety of substrates such as solid decking, which is demonstrated in this video. For solid decking materials, OSB or Plywood can be used with a minimum thickness of 7/16", but I would recommend using 5/8" thick decking, which will provide greater screw grip strength and heavier load capacities, for heavy snow load areas or extremely high wind areas.

Another substrate option, which can provide greater screw grip strength, would be to install purlins with 2' spacing. For this 1x4's or 2x4's can be used, which can be installed on top of the roof decking and underlayment, spaced at every 2' with the use of long screws that secure the purlins to the truss's located under decking, or the purlins can be installed directly on top of the truss's spaced at every 2' as well. And for an optional step, foam board insulation can be installed between the purlins to fill any voids. After installing the purlins, the metal panels can then be secured with screws at every 9" across each purlin.
