I walk bare foot on the forest floor
Like I walk bare foot on the beach
Kicking up leaves as if I'm splashing in waves
Awareness on prickly briars as much as sharp shells
Always wanting a mug of warmth close to hand
Never finishing a tea without wanting another
Never knowing where I'm going but always knowing the way
One step at a time
Revealing a path that isn't visible
Following Earth lines of energy
Through woods and forests
And along oceans and seas
Fingers tips feeling the breeze
Like a handrail
Giving me support
For when the steps of life get steep
I can't hold the weight of your sadness
But I can hold you in your sadness
I can't make you happy
But I can bring the joy that I am
I can't walk you through the darkness
But I can bring you the light of my being
I can't take away your loneliness
But I can always be with you
Like the sea is always with the shoreline
I hold the keys
To many buildings and many hearts
Always letting myself in
Where doors need to be opened and tears need to be shed.
I don't fear ghosts
I deliver souls to the grim reaper
If you've left parts of yourself behind
Apparitions of a life once lived
I'll gather them together
Ribbons hung from trees
Like prayers hanging in the sky
Weaving them together
As I hear your story
Whispered through the light of early morning mist
So you can be together
The only way home is through life
Don't lose yourself in death.
