Lamborghini launched the Sian, pronounced 'Cian' this Tuesday at the Frankfurt Motor show, its first hybrid model and this will lay the foundations for all V12 models to come. The Sian means 'Bolt of Lightening' and is loosely based on the Aventador underpinnings. A limited run of 63 cars aimed at Lamborghini's top customers will cost around 2.5 million Euros thereby putting this car at the very top of Lamborghini's range making it the fastest, most powerful Lamborghini ever made and the first to embrace hybrid technology.

Not exactly eco-friendly though and does not have the capability to run on hybrid alone.
This is a car embracing technology to enhance performance because it is unashamedly a high performance 'Supercar' that focusses on low weight combined with aero.

The hybrid system only subtly assists the car’s naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine. The system also diverges from other hybrid models by using a lighter super-capacitor rather than the more usual 'battery pack' that might be found on .competitors like the Ferrari SF90 Stradale. Super-capacitors differ from traditional battery packs in the way they store and supply electricity: they can absorb and expel energy far more quickly than a battery, but are less effective at holding on to a charge over a long period of time.

'Lamborghini says that the supercapacitor in the Sian will recharge to full after one braking application, and it can draw on the 40hp electric motor at speeds of up to 80mph. The V12 itself has seen a power increase from the 759bhp, found in the Aventador SVJ, to 774bhp thanks to the adoption of titanium intake valves. Combined, the powertrain gives maximum power of 808bhp at 8500rpm. Evo Mag.

Launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show by Lamborghini's President and CEO, ex Ferrari Racing boss, Stefano Domenicali, one of our favourite Car bosses. It is obvious that the management at Lamborghini is so enthusiastic these days and this will hopefully guarantee their success in the motor industry going forward. Lamborghini claims the Sian accelerates from 0-62mph time is ‘less than 2.8sec’, beating the time recorded for the SVJ, but they say it’s the Sian’s in-gear times that have benefited most.

Where the Sian looks forward is in its innate beauty, and it is beautiful to this reporters eyes, taken from Gandini’s Countach LP400 from 1974, with a clean silhouette. Clearly Lamborghini have not forgotten that their car have to be beautiful unlike some launches by competitors in recent years, the ducts on the body sides and the tail lights formed of three hexagons all lend aggression to the sculptured lines but the overall effect is one of complete cohesion. We'd say job done and congrats Lambo you have created the best looking Supercar since the Countach, no question.

Other highlights are the rear wing that raises automatically at higher speeds along with temperature activated cooling fins that operate without needing additional electric motors.
