Teachers, students, and allies rallied teach truth, defend LGBTQ+ rights, and challenge book bans at the African American Civil War Memorial in Washington, D.C. as part of the national #TeachTruth Day of Action. The MC was educator Jessica Rucker. Two SNCC veterans, Judy Richardson and Dr. Frank Smith, were featured speakers. Teachers shared their pledges to teach truthfully and donated books on the contraband themes of the history of racism in the United States, climate justice, and/or LGBTQ+ identities. Hosted by the African American Civil War Memorial and Museum and D.C. Area Educators for Social Justice, along with many co-sponsors.
