The Roman road network in Britain was extensive and long distance travel became commonplace, but without Volvos, journey times could be in days. So where did the Romano Britons stop for a break, a bath and an overnight stay?

In this video we look at the Roman equivalent to a modern day motorway services. The town is Letocetum - now called Wall - in the West Midlands on that most important of Roman roads, Watling Street, which ran from the Kentish coast to London and then on up through the Midlands to Wroxeter.

Leteocetum is also close to Ryknield Street and there's a tale about a lost Roman milestone at the crossroads.
