I couldn’t wait for an official retrofit for my March 21 Tesla Model Y build so I decided to buy the parts and install it myself. It was the easiest retrofit ever, easier than replacing my cabin air filters and cost less than $200! So hurry and check to see if you can do this retrofit and buy the parts ASAP before Tesla officially sells it on their website increasing the cost of this retrofit by ALOT.

Most cars starting after July 21 should have the Hepa filter already with the biodefense mode (BDM) button. When doing this aftermarket retrofit you may not get a biodefense mode button but it’s ok. The Hepa filter engages when you have recirculating air OFF and removes any smells, pollen, smoke from entering your cabin.
