How to use a can of Coke to improve your public speaking gestures. As Ricky Bobby once said, “I’m not sure what to do with my hands.” Free Download pdf Confident Speaking: https://www.alexanderlyon.com/

A lot of people struggle with this. Here are three quick tips.

1. Find a home base, a place to keep your hands when you’re not gesturing. A good home base is a little bit above belt level.

2. Hold your hands loosely. It’s just like you’re holding a can of Coke.

I got this tip from my good friend and author Allen Weiner. He says people gesture comfortably when they’re at a party and they’re holding a Coke in their hand.

They talk normally, they gesture in a relaxed way. Practice this right now so you can remember the feeling. Then simply remove the Coke and gesture the same way. You can do this with or without notes.

3. Gesture about once or twice per sentence. Just let your hands go a little to emphasize the key words in each sentence. When you’re not gesturing, just bring them back to home base.
