The fashion industry has a plastic problem. Currently polyester makes up around 50% of global fiber production – but the material is made from fossil fuels and creates microplastic pollution when garments are washed.

Kintra’s biobased material has the great advantage of being compatible with existing production facilities, as Alissa Baier-Lentz explains, and widespread adoption of biobased fibers like Kintra’s could replace 10-15% of polyester usage within 5 years if demand increases.
