An animation film made by local children with professional support telling the story of Thomas Coram. He was born in poverty in Lyme, made his money in the Americas and then founded England’s first charity, the Foundlings Hospital in London with the support of his friend Fredrick Handel – who organised the first ‘benefit gig’ to fundraise with a performance of ‘The Messiah’.
The film was funded by Lyme Regis Town Council and is part of the Lyme Regis Museum Centenary celebrations. We’ve worked with children from St Michael’s Primary School, Lyme Regis and children from The Woodroffe School.
