I posted the first version of this video 4 months ago and many people complained because the music was way too loud so here's the new version.

I love Alex. He's my second favorite character (after Justin).
I'm sad to see so many people hating him since the last season aired. Some say the writers ruined his character in season 3 but I think everything made sense and he acted the same way he always did.
He is broken , has been since Hannah died, and everytime things get better for him, people end up letting him down. Since the first time we have seen him on the screen all he tries to do is to help others to the point where is literally ready to do anything to save and protect them.
People say the time he spend with Bryce didn't make sense but it actually did. He felt extremely lonely and simply needed somebody at this point, anybody. Once he realized how bad Bryce still was he ended the "friendship" (it wasn't actually one, he says so himself).
Others point out how cruel it was to blame Monty but do I need to remind you that Alex didn't have a say in this ? His friends lied to protect him and he only found out once the lie was spread and the plan was already in motion. If he came clean at this point, his friends would be in trouble. Being who he is, he went with it but that doesn't mean he likes it.
You can blame him for being a jerk to Jessica and Justin in season 3 but again, it makes sense. They are two of the reasons he ended up on the pier. If Justin would have been there for Jess that night, he wouldn't have had to come with her. If Jess didn't ask him to help, he wouldn't have been there in the first place. I'm not saying it's Jessica and Justin's faults, but they are part of the reasons why it happened.
I see a lot of people criticizing the fact he was ready to let Clay go to jail. Was he really ? Because from what I've seen he wrote a confession and was ready to die. I really hope next season we will see a lot more of the guilt he might feel so people realize how hurt he actually is over everything that has happened. May he get the help he desperately needs like many others in the show.
