Richard Roundtree’s breakout role was that of a Black Private Detective in the 1971 Blockbuster “Shaft”. Shaft gave Black Folk something they needed. He kicked the drug dealers and the White men who they worked for in the ass. His style of investigation was raw but it felt good to the Brothers and he looked good to the Sistahs.
