The recent SSC Tuatara's speed record attempt has certainly caused a lot of controversy, with an astonishing speed of 331mph being shown in the video. Having watched the excellent analysis videos from Shmee, Misha and Robert I wanted to dive deeper into the data. Jerod Shelby has responded that there was indeed a mixup with the video and data, so I try and answer the question of exactly what was wrong with the data. I have done this by using the same kind of GPS analysis techniques we have used in other speed record attempts using GPS.
