Finally we get to continue working on our energy independence project. In this video I'm welding a shelf (or rack) for the 16 Tesla Battery Modules that came out of our 200k mile 2013 Tesla Model S85. I make all the copper bus bars to connect two of the 24V modules in series and then make the U-shaped bus bars to connect the 48V series paired modules in parallel for a total capacity of 85kWh of energy storage.
This will be used not just during blackouts but to power all 120V loads in our house. Added solar panels are recharging the Tesla Battery Modules. We will find out if this energy storage and the later added solar panels are enough for our homes 120 Volt loads. We may then take some of the 240V loads of the grid as well. But with 2 electric cars it is impossible to take the whole house of the grid. That would take a massive amount of solar and energy storage.
