In Western South Dakota, there's an old adage that beavers are "bad." But beavers have enormous benefits to landowners. Their dams help slow water on the landscape, reducing flooding and minimizing erosion. That's why The Nature Conservancy in South Dakota is working with landowners and partners to install man-made structures in stream beds that mimic a beaver dam and provide the same benefits.
