Considering that Toyota pretty much wrote the book on mainstream petrol-electric hybrid cars, it seems a little odd that it's taken the firm quite so long to break into the EV market. But broken in it finally has, and with this, the all-new - and snappily named - BZ4X.

This new family SUV is about the same size as a RAV4, and its all-electric drivetrain comes with a 71.4kWh battery and choice of either front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and an official WLTP range of 317 miles or 257 miles, respectively.

The thing is, midsize electric SUVs are all the rage right now, to the BZ4X has literally dozens of rivals all competing for the same buyers. So, does the Toyota stand out? In this CarGurus UK video review, Vicky Parrott answers that very question by thoroughly assessing the car in terms of its quality, technology, practicality, and of course, what it's like to drive.
