Islamic Mutual Funds are Shariah Compliant investment funds that follow Islamic principles. An Islamic mutual fund is managed according to Islamic principles, which forbids taking interest and charging fees, as well as investing in alcohol and pork products. The goal of an Islamic mutual fund is to provide a return in line with the economic climate while adhering to these principles.
In general, Shariah Compliant Mutual Funds invest in stocks or bonds (or both) and seek to achieve a rate of return that is consistent with the economic conditions at the time of investment. They also adhere to minimum investment requirements and generally do not charge management fees.
Halal Mutual Funds must also comply with applicable state laws governing investments, including offerings made in states where limited registration exemptions apply. Each state may have its own set of rules governing the sale of securities to residents.
