In this video I review the RPM Motorsports BOV kit for the 2020-2022 Can Am X3s. The X3 comes stock with a wastegate, however it does not have a blow off valve to help protect the factory turbo from compressor surges. The wastegate is similar to the BOV, but it is located on the exhaust side to bypass excess exhaust pressure on the turbo to prevent the turbo wheel from reaching unsafe speeds. The blow off valve sits on the cold side of the intake and vents excess boost pressure to the atmosphere when there is a sudden stop to the intake flow when the throttle gets closed. Instead of allowing the positive pressure to surge back to the turbo wheel causing damage over time, it allows the positive charge to escape safely through the blow off valve while eliminating compressor surges. Installing a blow off valve on the X3 turbo system helps prevent premature turbo wear/damage. The RPM BOV kit is a reasonably priced kit that gets the job done without braking the bank.
