Today's Trivia Question: 💡
What's something that's always better to buy brand new, and one thing that's always better to buy used?

Tools & Supplies Used:
PSI Soft Parts w/ 8 Layer Coils
CA Glue w/ Activator Spray
Rubberized Glue
Painters Tape & Gorilla Tape
Heavy Duty Clamps
Panel Puller Tool
Zip Ties & Clippers
Spare Sub Gaskets
Sharp Utility Blade
Air Compressor & Blower
Lazy Susan (rotating table)
Yoga Mat (protective mats)
Weights (used an alternator)

Today's Reconing Steps & Tips:

1: Cleaning the gap
-The voice coil moves inside the narrow space on the subwoofer motor, so the center pole needs to be free of any debris that could get stuck.

2: Gluing Spider Landings
- A critical part of a subwoofers suspension system are pieces of material that hold the voice coil former firmly into place. These particular soft parts are called "spiders", and are commonly made from woven fabric. A large bead of CA glue works best on this area because it sets up fast and cures extremely hard.

3: Installing New Recones
-It's important to always use adequate shimming to make sure the voice coils stay perfectly positioned. Polaroids, oak tag paper, or simply some plastic abs sheeting is great for a homemade shim. Line up the tinsel leads with the existing terminal spots on the frame, and drop in the fresh new assembly.

4: Activating The Glue
CA glues work even faster when an combined with activator spray. Using it will speed up the drying / curing process, making it easy to work with when doing multiple woofers.

5: Attaching Foam Surround
With surrounds, rubber glues deliver the greatest results. It contracts when it dries and stays flexible forever. It can even be cleaned off the foams outer layer if mistakes are made.

6: Clamping Down With Gaskets
I use spare 18 inch subwoofer gaskets to apply even pressure onto the basket when adding glue and hand clamps.

7: Adding Dust Cap on Cone
-Dust caps can be tricky to apply. The easiest way is to roll up a segment of clean release tape, creating a makeshift handle that can be stuck onto the outside of the dustcap while applying.

8: Making an "Insta-Clamp"
- instead of having weight precariously sat on my Subs while I wait for glue to dry, I add a small layer of extra thin CA to do all the work as the rubberized glue finishes curing 👍

9: Congratulations, THAT'S HOW TO DO A COMPLETE SUBWOOFER RECONE!!! Want more directions? Subscribe to the channel!!!
