I go over some common issues with this 3L powerstroke diesel engine as well as power rating and fuel economy. Bottom line people were buying the Ecoboost engines over the diesel powerstroke option

I hope everyone is having a great week. I've really wanted to do a review on the 3L powerstroke diesel engine in the F150's but I've had a hard time tracking one down.

I find it interesting that this 3L diesel engine only last 3 years in the f150 and eventually discontinued due to lack of sales or lack of interest. the main competition to this engine the Ram EcoDiesel has had tons of interest and still gets alot of interest so it was a little shocking to hear people were not buying it.

Now looking at all the engine options from ford it does make some sense. the ecoboost line up seems to be really popular because you can get the economy of a diesel as well as the torque. but you don't have to deal with the headache of modern diesel emission systems.

speaking of emissions these 3L powerstroke diesel engines is no exception to having issues. these engines are know for clogging EGR coolers woth soot as well as DPF clogging up with soot. the best thing you can do if you own one of these engines is to lose the emission systems. these engines were also known for bottom end failures. the crankshafts and crankshaft bearings have been found to fail.

anyways guys I hope you liked the video!
