Campfire safety is the most important thing when it comes to spending time in a forest.

Different states will have different requirements but in California the easiest way to get a campfire permit is by Googling "campfire permit" or you can click this link:

Follow the directions, you will put in your information, watch a short video and answer questions. If you pass, you can type in your name and you will have your certificate. You can prit it or just take picture / screenshot and this way you will always have it on your phone.
It's good from January 1st to Dec 31st. It's a good thing to do this in January so you won't forget later.
