Hi. My name is Andrew and I’m a tax expert at TurboTax. I’m happy to help you with your date of birth e-file rejection.

Don’t worry, it’s an easy fix. Let's jump in.

When you filed your taxes this year, the date of birth for the first person listed on your return didn't match what the IRS has in its database.

First, check this year's Form 1040 and find the first person listed. Take a look at their birth certificate to double-check that you have the correct date.

Sign back into TurboTax and select “Fix my return”. Enter the correct birth date in the standard American format of month, day, and year, then follow the instructions to refile your return.

If the on-screen date is correct and you’re still getting rejected, you’ll have to print and mail your return.
