One of the biggest things plaguing websites right now in search engine optimization is keyword cannibalization. In this video, you'll learn how to identify which pages have competing keywords and fix them so you'll be able to rank higher.

(00:22) What is Keyword Cannibalization?
An example of keyword cannibalization is when you have multiple pages that are all optimized for the same term. Make sure you consolidate all other pages and add internal links when it makes sense and get rid of low-quality pages.

(01:03)
1. Look at all the pages you have around a keyword and use Google Search Console to note which ones are seeing traffic. Then, go into SEMRush to see which pages are ranking inside of Google. Then, you'll hop back into the Google Search Console and find all the pages that have the most links to them.

(01:37) Determine which pages you'll redirect. Anything that is out of date or low quality should be redirected. You'll also want to follow the hub and spoke model, identifying top blogs around keywords that go more in-depth on your main topic.

(02:10) Once you've executed your redirects, you'll see
1. Link quality to the main page improve
2. Redirects will take you back to the main page
3. Rankings and traffic will be pushed to your main page

Start lifting your overall website, while getting more conversions overall. By solving the problem of cannibalization, you'll clearly signal to Google which pages are the most valuable.
