In one of his books, Bob Clouser described the deep minnow, which we've come to know simply as the Clouser minnow, as more of a system of fly design than a set pattern. There have been a lot of riffs on his idea over the years by a lot of talented tyers. And me. My most successful variations have involved finding materials like kip tail, squirrel tail, and rabbit fur that make it easier to tie smaller versions of the deep minnow that still maintain the features that make the original fly so effective for so many species. I hope you find this video useful and entertaining, and I hope this downsized version of a classic finds a place in your warmwater fly box.
