Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw was awarded several prestigious honors for his exceptional service, including the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award in India. He retired from the army in 1973 but remained a highly respected figure in the country until his demise on June 27, 2008.

His legacy continues to inspire generations of military personnel, and he is remembered as one of the greatest military leaders in Indian history, whose strategic acumen and leadership transformed the course of the nation's history.
