Japan: 2 Dead, Over 100 Hospitalised as Cholesterol Pill Sparks Health Scare | Firstpost America

A cholesterol-lowering pill in Japan has caused quite a commotion in the country. The death of two people and over 100 hospitalisations have been linked to these health-improving pills. The dietary supplement contains red yeast rice which is called "Beni Koji" in Japanese and this could possibly be the root cause of these illnesses. This has caused a massive probe and now authorities have recalled all the supplements that claim health benefits. One of the drug makers called the Kobayashi Pharmaceutical stated that one out of the two people who died was a regular consumer of their red yeast rice.
