James Coburn Biography: Action movie legend
James Coburn (1928-2002) was an American actor with more than 70 movies and 100 television appearances during his 45-year career. Famous for his masculine appearance, cool demeanor and natural acting style, Coburn became an icon on screen.
Born in Nebraska, Coburn came to Hollywood in the 1950s and quickly made his mark through supporting roles in films such as "The Magnificent Seven" (1960) and "The Great Escape" (1963).
Coburn's breakthrough came in the 1960s with starring roles in "Charade" (1963), "Our Man Flint" (1965) and "In Like Flint" (1966), establishing himself as a leading action star.
During the following years, Coburn continued to conquer audiences through diverse films such as "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid" (1973), "Hell in a Handbasket" (1974), "Silver Streak" (1976), "Maverick" (1994) and "Affliction" (1998), earned him the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1999.
James Coburn passed away in 2002, leaving behind a legacy as a talented, diverse and influential actor in world cinema.
