Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and soon, the Next Generation Car!

Back at drone work after 12 days away at Starbase, and man are there a lot of changes and developments! First off, congratulations to the Giga Texas 4680 cell team for hitting the milestone of 1,000 Cybertruck cells per week, and the ramp is only going up from here! They have had to overcome several challenges this year and it is great to see them hitting their stride!

This brings the Cybertruck production run rate to about 52,000 per year, and this is about 3 months ahead of where I had projected, they would be at this point in time! This is notable as I expect a inflection point with a second shift being added sometime in the middle part of 2d Quarter, so to be this far ahead is a major accomplishment!

In the video introduction, I give a short summary of my time at Starbase covering the launch of Starship 28 and Booster 10 on the third prototype launch of this revolutionary rocket system, including sights, sounds and impressions along the way and during this highly successful and historic mission! The link to the full recap video is in the sources section below!

I wanted to say thanks to Jeff Roberts and Brad Sloan for continuing coverage of Giga Texas while I was away covering both the Tesla Lithium Plant and the Successful launch of Starship.

Although I had a great time at Starbase, I’m now back in action at Giga Texas and I have a little catching up to do to see what has happened while I was away. So, without further preamble, let’s get the drone in the air and take a look around the site and see what is happening today!

A few additional highlights from the drone flight today:

Hundreds of Cybertrucks getting ready to head out of Giga Texas to new customers! The west Supercharging site was full of them, as was the east side of the new End-of-Line (EOL) facility! The west outbound lot was also busy loading up both Model Ys & Cybertrucks, then moving off site quickly using the newly paved North-to-South road on the west side which connects to Tesla Road! Finally, there were many Cybertrucks on exiting the factory on the southeast side and about a dozen stored on the southwest staging lot while about 100 more Cybertrucks plus Model Ys at the east lot!

It appears a casting machine section extension is being prepared on the north east side of the main factory. Screw-type piles were being installed throughout the cleared area that was once a concrete apron section and this may indicate they needed space for additional equipment, possibly even another Giga Casting machine.

The south extension steel structure has grown much larger over the past 12 days and is now almost fully completed on the west side. There remains a large middle section between the original exterior wall and the new steel extension, so I would expect a few more weeks of work before this is fully filled in. More glad panes have been installed on the south side wall, working from the east to the west. Floor and roof decking is now being installed on the southwest angled corner section of the new structure, while three parallel large linear trenches on the ground floor are being prepared for concrete pour with rebar and forms.

The Boring Company crews continue final preparations for the Prufrock 3 tunneling to commence, and it appears some testing of the drill head has occurred as it is in a different orientation and has been angled further downwards, possibly near the 17 degree drilling slope that is desired for the initial tunneling cut.
