If you’re wondering why Audi created the coupe-style Sportback version of its popular Q5 mid-size SUV, the answer is the BMW X4 and strong-selling Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe.

Released in August 2021 and priced from around $82,000 – about $10,000 higher than the equivalent Audi Q5 wagon at base level – the 2022 Audi Q5 Sportback is available in three flavours.

But the sweet spot could well be the only petrol version – the mid-range 2022 Audi Q5 45 TFSI Sportback we’re testing here.
