Donald Sassoon, Emeritus Professor of Comparative European History at Queen Mary, University of London, is known for profound insight in the field and is considered one of Britain's leading historians. Known for his brilliant analytical skills spanning eras, he has studied the first 100 years of socialism, beginning with Karl Marx at the end of the 19th century, and later European cultural history from the 1800s to the 2000s. His books, translated into 15 languages with wide-reaching impact, have won literary prizes around the world, including the Deutscher Memorial Prize and the Alassio International Prize. The author of more than 100 articles and essays, Sassoon is currently researching global capitalism from 1880-1914.
