In Belarus we say that the most difficult language in the world is Belarusian. Why? Even we can’t speak it fluently.
As a Russian-speaking Belarusian, I would like to talk about my experience of acquiring an endangered language, which was supposed to be my mother tongue. What are the main reasons that could preclude me from learning this language and, after all, why in Belarus we don’t speak Belarusian?
I will be glad to encourage you to start your journey and get acquainted with this language. Да сустрэчы!

Yelizaveta Babichava was born in Belarus and started her language learning journey at the University of Bologna in Italy. She speaks English, Italian, Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, and a few months ago started to learn Armenian. She believes that language is not only a way of communication but is also a key to deep understanding of a culture. Her main mission is to stimulate people to carry about endangered languages. Learning, speaking and practicing such languages can preserve cultural heritage. The world is beautiful because it’s diverse!
