In this video, I share how I improved the keyword ranking for "SEO Consultant" for my business, TM Blast, in Google over 30 days. Before, my listing was on page 2 of Google for "SEO Consultant" in New York, but now it is on page 1, according to SEMRush and Local Falcon. Here are a few things I did, along with what helped move it to page 1.

1) Used the keyword phrase a few times on my homepage
2) Used the phrase as a service in Google My Business
3) Used the phrase in my updates section in Google My Business

The Entity Building
I've been obsessed with entity building for a while regarding SEO. I've been improving my topical relevance in Google (and Bing) by getting listed on directories and websites about Saratoga Springs, New York. To start, I'm listed in a relevant directory for Saratoga that mentions TM Blast as an SEO consulting company. Next, I got featured in an article on Saratoga Living about my businesses (TM Blast and The Stadium Reviews). Third, I have a few YouTube videos using that keyword phrase.

Summary:
Gone are the days of using a keyword on a homepage and GMB to rank. Instead, entity building must be part of your SEO strategy to rank. I did not mention "link building" nor talk about "Domain Authority" websites in the video. Instead, I want to build a brand in the upstate New York region, so getting featured on relevant third-party sites that talk about my business helps give additional ranking signals to Google (and Bing) to rank me for more and more keywords.
