MacArthur Fellow
Angela Belcher, W.M. Keck professor of energy, received her BA in creative studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1991, and a PhD in chemistry from UC Santa Barbara in 1997. She came to MIT in 2002. Professor Belcher is a materials chemist with expertise in the fields of biomaterials, biomolecular materials, organic-inorganic interfaces, and solid state chemistry. In her interdisciplinary work, Professor Belcher seeks to understand and harness nature’s own processes in order to design materials and devices for energy, the environment, and medicine.
