Bicycled 18 km around Kuala Lumpur on the national general election day (GE15), 19 November 2022, to have a look at the election flags and activities around the various parts of town. I set off on my Brompton bicycle around 9 am in the morning from the Bukit Bintang area, down towards Chinatown, onwards to Brickfields / Little India, then back towards the Malay village Kampung Baru, where the ride ends.

It was an enjoyable ride in cool weather after rain with a slight drizzle.

Have a good election, Malaysia!

:-)

Highlights from the ride include:
5:34 Hati-hati! Don't get hit in the head by the election flags along the street
5:48 Entering Chinatown
7:45 Menara 118 - 2nd tallest building in the World (nice photo spot)
5:58 Informal entrance to River of Life from Chinatown
9:48 The "hidden roundabout" (and other spaces) fenced off for homeless people
13:26 Entering Brickfields
14:19 Indelible ink + first voting station
16:06 Entering Little India
20:05 Showing nice photo spot of KL Railway Station
23:01 100% electric bus (new)
24:11 The center of Kuala Lumpur = muddy river confluence
25:04 Same as above (better view)
26:24 Merdeka Square to myself ;-)
29:44 MARA building with tiled facade
30:30 Another voting station along the Gombak river
34:45 The oBike, the failed bicycle sharing scheme. NB. I did two videos about the oBike scheme five years ago:    • oBike bicyle ride: Convenient and easy   and    • Trying out the shared bicycle scheme,...
35:57 Entering Chow Kit market
38:06 Entering Kampung Baru (not sure exactly where it starts)
38:22 Appreciation of silent bicycle versus noisy motorbike that also pollutes the air
40:29 Enjoy the low rise village look of Kampung Baru, while it lasts, due to plans of excessive development (high rises almost everywhere)
42:28 One of the crazy Kampung Baru developments. High rise with Ferris wheel on top. Not exactly in the village spirit!
43:25 Nice kampung house & election flags
44:04 One of my favourite kampung houses
44:39 This development looks like a copy from Singapore
46:58 Garbage truck in action. Room for improvement
50:10 Voting station in Kampung Baru
53:37 Main street of Kampung Baru (commercial center)
54:27 Another nice kampung house
55:24 THE END. Leaving Kampung Baru around 10 am
